Academic Regulations

I. Students Enrolled After the 104th Academic Year (Inclusive)

Liberal Education Area Requirements: 16 credits

  1. Eight Areas of Liberal Education (14 credits):

    • Personality Cultivation and Multiculturalism
    • Democracy, Rule of Law, and Civic Awareness
    • Globalization and Socioeconomic Structure
    • Classical Works, Eastern and Western
    • Aesthetics and Expressions of Beauty
    • Science, Technology, and Society
    • Natural Sciences
    • Historical Analysis and Interpretation

    Regulations for each area: Up to 4 credits may be counted for each area.

  2. Mandatory First-Year Liberal Education Courses (2 credits): "Introduction to Marine Science"

    First-year students will be assigned classes according to the system's setup. First-year students do not need to add these courses online themselves. Retake students, transfer students, and re-enrolled students must visit the Office of Common Education Center on the 2nd floor of the Humanities Building within one week after the semester begins.

    *Note: Students from the College of Marine Sciences, such as the Department of Environmental Fisheries and the Department of Oceanography, have relevant professional courses and cannot take this course. Therefore, they need to choose an additional 2 credits of liberal education courses from the eight major areas.

II. First-Year Students Enrolled After the 110th Academic Year (Inclusive)

Liberal Education Area Requirements: 18 credits

  1. Eight Areas of Liberal Education (14 credits):

    • Personality Cultivation and Multiculturalism
    • Democracy, Rule of Law, and Civic Awareness
    • Globalization and Socioeconomic Structure
    • Classical Works, Eastern and Western
    • Aesthetics and Expressions of Beauty
    • Science, Technology, and Society
    • Natural Sciences
    • Historical Analysis and Interpretation

    Regulations for each area: Up to 4 credits may be counted for each area.

  2. Mandatory First-Year Liberal Education Courses (4 credits):

    • "Introduction to Marine Science" (2 credits)
    • "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" (2 credits)

III. First-Year Students Enrolled After the 112th Academic Year (Inclusive)

    • Humanistic Exploration
    • Social Dynamics
    • Technological Innovation
    • Interdisciplinary Sustainability

    Regulations for each area: Up to 4 credits may be counted for each area.

  2. Mandatory First-Year Liberal Education Courses (4 credits):

    • "Introduction to Marine Science" (2 credits)
    • "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" (2 credits)

IV. Transfer and Re-enrolled Students Enrolled After the 110th Academic Year (Inclusive): Follow the compulsory subject list of each department.

Q: Can excess general education credits be counted towards graduation credits?

A: Please inquire with the department to confirm whether they accept credits as elective courses from other departments.

V. Special Manual Addition of Courses

Eligibility: (1) Extended students, graduating seniors, third-year students, transfer students, students changing majors, or re-enrolled students who cannot add courses due to the course limit exceeding. (2) Graduating seniors lacking elective credits. (3) Third-year university students who need to add courses in general education, foreign languages, or need to take two compulsory physical education courses due to retakes. (4) Graduate students who need to add courses in foreign languages.

Application Process: Please visit the "Teaching Affairs System" in the "Course Selection System" and choose "Manual Course Addition Application" to register and print the application form. After obtaining the signature of the course instructor, submit the form to the respective area's mailbox outside the Center's office.
